About

Hi, I’m Ritika

I’m a ceramic artist and sculptor working from my studio in Gurgaon, India. For over eight years, clay has been my language — a material that resists, surprises, and ultimately rewards patience.

Every piece at Studio Iyla is hand-built. No casting, no moulds. Just hands, tools, and an ongoing conversation with stoneware.

The textures you feel on a mug, the fold on a vessel, the weight of a sculpture in your palm — these are not accidents. They are decisions, made slowly.

The Studio

I work out of a small studio in Gurgaon, where each piece moves through the complete process — from wedging and building, through bisque firing, glazing, and the final high-temperature stoneware fire. Small batches only. No two pieces are identical.

The Work

My practice sits at the intersection of function and sculpture. A mug should be beautiful to hold before you ever fill it. A vase should feel complete whether or not there are flowers in it. And a sculpture should stop you in a room.

I work across several bodies of work — functional tableware (mugs, bowls, plates, cups), decorative vessels and vases, wall décor, and sculptural pieces that are purely art objects. The Stillness series, the Perched bird sculptures, and the Gathered Grace vessels each came from a different question I was asking about form and presence.

Commissions

I take on a small number of bespoke commissions each year — for individuals, restaurants, hotels, and interior projects. If you have something specific in mind, I’d love to hear about it.
